Happy International Cat Day! These two fur-babies of mine are getting an extra dose of love today. In fact, I’m not sure if that is possible because from the moment they arrived in my life, they have warmed my heart and brought me joy. I absolutely Iove them to bits.
This little one-eyed black and white kitty cat that we have named Dimples was only 900 grams when we got her and she is still pretty skittish from her first few weeks of life trying to survive all alone in the world. Well, she is actually a boy, but because I’ve never had a boy cat, I found it impossible to call Dimples ‘he’, so she has become my little lady boy! Do you find that weird? I promise, she doesn’t seem to mind!
Then we have this crazy ginger, Daisy Flower. She is one-of-a-kind and I’m convinced she only has a brain the size of a pinhead. When we got her, she bit us a lot because she had been defending herself on the streets for so long, but with all our love and patience (and some anti-anxiety medication), we have finally found a nice balance… well, most of the time!
I am constantly amazed at how often these little creatures can bring a smile to my face and warmth to my heart. They seem to know when I’m feeling a little wobbly, which is when they curl up on my lap and soak up my pats and words of adoration. I really don’t know what I would have done without them over this last year as they have been constant companions on lonely lockdown days.
